“President Obama met with musicians at the White House today to discuss ways to continue the “My Brother’s Keeper” initiative, according to ABC News. “My Brother’s Keeper” is an initiative designed to create support programs to help young men of color fight the imbalances created by racial injustice. The attendees included Alicia Keys, Nicki Minaj, Rick Ross, Busta Rhymes, Pusha T, Common, Janelle Monáe, Ludacris, Chance the Rapper, J. Cole, Wale and DJ Khaled. Many of the artists invited have taken an active role in combating the opportunity gap within their respective communities. The meeting wasn’t announced publicly, but was confirmed by the Associated Press.”

This should be interesting…Not sure why a few of those rappers were there, but hopefully this will usher in a new consciousness amongst black rappers like Rick Ross, A$SP…even Nicki, etc….in order to take hip-hop to a higher level.

watch Missy Elliott’s video “WTF (Where They From)” feat. Pharrell Williams!

Go Missy! Although I think her first single could be stronger, I’m just happy that she decided to grace music with her presence again! Looking forward to hearing her new album since it’s been ten years since her last project, The Cookbook, was released.

“A wise man told me the first step towards change is AWARENESS. The second step is ACCEPTANCE. Are YOU AWARE of the CHANGES that are HAPPENING AROUND YOU? Are you WILLING to ACCEPT THE CHANGE THAT IS UPON US? It’s time for a SHIFT. A METAMORPHOSIS, a MODIFICATION, a DIFFERENCE….LIFE doesn’t get better by CHANCE, it gets better by CHANGE.” — Charlamagne Tha God

Perfect timing! I just heard this song two days ago, but Charlamagne’s quote definitely resonated with me. Dope record! And she’s only 19 years old…
