Tori-Kelly-Unbreakable-Smile

The day has finally arrived!!! I’ve been watching Tori grind for the past few years and all of her hard work and dedication has finally paid off!! Congratulations on the new release and please be sure to support this beautiful & incredibly talented artist! The album is currently the number one album on iTunes! Let’s make sure the album is number one on Billboard next week too!!! Can’t wait to see her perform in NYC tonight!!

D’Angelo — “Betray My Heart”

One of my other favorite songs off of D’Angelo’s new album Black Messiah is “Really Love.” I heard the demo a couple years ago and I love the final version. The album’s closer “Another Life” is also amazing! Now, it’s time for Lauryn to feed our souls and bless us with her second studio album!! She just killed her set in Ghana a few days ago and her voice sounded good! It took D 14 years to release his new album and Lauryn is approaching 13. A fan can only wish right? Lol.

Jazmine REUNITES with Stevie Wonder!!

What another incredible moment for Jazmine! While out in L.A. to perform at Tyler Perry’s birthday party, Jazmine stopped by Stevie Wonder’s radio station to promote her new single and upcoming album. Little did she know, that Mr. Wonder was also in the building! I was told that Stevie joined in on the interview, discussing how he met Jazmine when she was under the age of 10 and how she was invited to perform at Stevie’s grandson’s birthday party! Now, more than 15 years later, their paths crossed once again, with Stevie saying that he’s been following her career ever since. 🙂 After the interview, the two musical prodigies had a little impromptu session. #legendary

listen to Jazmine Sullivan’s second single, “Forever Don’t Last” [produced by Chuck Harmony]

This was one of the first batch of songs Jazmine recorded for her new album, Reality Show. It was the last day of her first set of sessions with Chuck Harmony and I remember walking into the session, hearing Chuck play this track and knowing instantly that with Jazmine’s soulful vocals and superb writing skills, magic was about to happen.  Jazmine truly has a gift from God and I wish more people got to witness her creation process because it happens so effortlessly. It took her no more than 15 minutes to write the song and the rest, is now history.  Although I have many favorites, this is definitely one of the stanjd out, GRAMMY worthy tracks on Jazmine’s upcoming album, which is now expected to drop sometime in November.

welcome back!! Jazmine returns to the stage with SOLD OUT show in LONDON after nearly 4 year absence from music!

Wish I could’ve been there….instead…I’m stuck writing this damn Motion. 😦 The comments from twitter have been incredible. New music coming soon!!

Performing her number one Billboard R&B debut single “Need U Bad,” co-produced by Missy Elliott and Lamb. Her debut album Fearless also went number one on the R&B Billboard Albums chart during its first week of release in September of 2008 and the album received 7 GRAMMY nominations and was later certified gold by the RIAA for sales of 500,000 copies or more.

Isn’t she fuckin beautiful?! J Records’ singer/songwriter Jazmine Sullivan stepped away from music for a few years, but I’m so excited for the world to hear her upcoming third project that will be released later next year! Other than Beyonce, what other African American female singer has been (or are currently) killing the game on a global scale in the last decade [e.g A.Keys, ???,]? Since the 1990s, the quality of music overall — particularly black music — has been on a decline (a major reason artists are not selling records anymore). No shade to what’s out right now (I love a good ratchet song), but it’s the truth. Most of the legends or powerhouse vocalists have either lost their voices or passed away, so the market is wide open for the next generation of legends to emerge. She may not be a household name (yet), but very few are fucking with her vocally/musically and many of your favorite artists (Steive Wonder, Jill Scott, Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Kim Burrell, Missy Elliott and Mariah Carey to name a few) have recognized and praised her gift of music. Just a few of her accolades in the last five years: her 2008 debut album, Fearless, was certified gold by the RIAA, she’s toured with Maxwell, Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo to name a few, she was the recipient of Billboard’s Rising Star Award in 2010 and she already has 9x GRAMMY nominations under her belt (most recent nomination was for writing on Kendrick Lamar’s song featuring Mary J. Blige) to name a few. Don’t sleep on her! I really believe her new album is going to solidify her name and place in music history. For many reasons, I’m very excited about 2014 — it is shaping up to be a big year!
