pix from Ravyn Lenae’s Crush Tour in Brooklyn, NY!

Chicago-born and Atlantic Records’ recording artist Ravyn Lenae brought her SOLD OUT Crush Tour to Baby’s All Right, which was right down the street from my place in Williamsburg (Brooklyn). I first learned about Ravyn when she opened up for SZA on her CTRL Tour in December of last year. She blew the house down and I’ve been a fan ever since. Yesterday was her first of two NYC shows and as expected, she (as well as her opening acts) killed her nearly hour set.

Here’s a video clip of Ravyn performing “The Night Song” off her new EP titled Crush. Sorry for the semi-poor audio quality. I was standing right next to the speakers and monitors.

She’s a star and her vocals are otherworldly! She’s definitely an artist to keep your eyes on!

Also, check out projects from Luke Titus and Raveena. Luke reminded me of Musiq Soulchild and I was expecting him to be so soulful. Ravenna gave me Jhene Aiko vibes and she also had an amazing voice. 👍🏾👍🏾

listen to Jazmine Sullivan’s second single, “Forever Don’t Last” [produced by Chuck Harmony]

This was one of the first batch of songs Jazmine recorded for her new album, Reality Show. It was the last day of her first set of sessions with Chuck Harmony and I remember walking into the session, hearing Chuck play this track and knowing instantly that with Jazmine’s soulful vocals and superb writing skills, magic was about to happen.  Jazmine truly has a gift from God and I wish more people got to witness her creation process because it happens so effortlessly. It took her no more than 15 minutes to write the song and the rest, is now history.  Although I have many favorites, this is definitely one of the stanjd out, GRAMMY worthy tracks on Jazmine’s upcoming album, which is now expected to drop sometime in November.
