day three in Egypt: from the moment we landed in Cairo, we have met such friendly and helpful people! earlier today, Ahmet met three young guys who kept him company while he waited for me outside the U.S. Embassy. we all got in trouble for taking pictures in the area, but since they had no sign saying photos were prohibited, the security personnel let us go without any problems. they also showed us how to walk across Cairo’s busy streets without getting hit. ๐Ÿ˜‚ on the way to Giza, we met a solider who made sure the driver didn’t over charge us as foreigners, and on the way to dinner tonight, we ran into a guy who stopped what he was doing to show us how to get to the restaurant that we wanted to go to, but couldn’t find. during the walk, he told me that i should not say that i’m African-American, but instead, i should only say that i’m African. i thought it was a pretty powerful statement and it felt really good hearing that!! can’t wait to see what else Egypt has in store for us! ๐Ÿ˜€
